At DATA ENSO, we have decided to implement 100% of our infrastructure in the cloud.
This choice was motivated by the level of quality, reliability and availability of the services we wish to provide to our customers.
So, after carrying out a comparative study between "physical" and "virtualized" solutions, here are the elements that tipped the balance:
- Adaptability of power requirements according to use (no need to plan in advance)
- Power consumption: we only consume power when services are active
- No dependence on hardware in the event of failure: everything is software, and the host takes care of it without you even noticing
- No loss of service in the event of failure: the instance restarts on another physical server immediately, with total transparency
- Possibility of rapidly increasing or reducing RAM memory, processor power or disk space
- Data can be migrated or copied in less than 1 minute (as easy as copy/paste)
- Duplication of an entire server can be carried out rapidly
- Scalability of solutions: rapid increase or decrease in capacity on demand, enabling us to adapt to peaks in our customers' activity
- Data backup (redundancy): data is automatically stored on several servers in France, located more than 200km apart.
- Data security: the security of all data is the responsibility of the host
- Maintenance of solutions: totally managed by the host, who knows his installations and ensures continuity of service
- Firewall management is simplified via the host's web manager or its API, whatever the operating system
- Installation of the operating system is instantaneous
In concrete terms, the management of part of our system is delegated to the selected supplier.
With this in mind, we compared the solutions on the market and opted for Amazon Web Service.
AWS is the most secure and protected cloud service platform, offering a wide range of infrastructure services such as database storage, computing power and networking, with 24/7 monitoring.
